Alles anzeigenHello everyone,
I drive a BMW M3 Competition Touring (G81, xDrive, year of manufacture 2026, just under 4500km driven) and have a problem with the starting behavior, where I am unsure whether it is still within the normal range or already a case for the workshop.
The following behavior:
When accelerating smoothly from a standstill (e.g., from an underground garage, parking lot, or intersection), there is sometimes a significant jerking motion. The vehicle does not accelerate evenly, but rather in a rhythm of approximately half a second: accelerator – no accelerator – accelerator – no accelerator. This causes the entire car to practically oscillate and "jump" when starting off.
General conditions:
- It mainly occurs in 1st gear.
- both in cold and warm states (still present even when warm)
- DSC is fully active (no MDM)
- The gearbox is in D1 (which is actually the most comfortable setting)
- Engine usually in Sport or Sport Plus mode (because of the sound), but the behavior is generally noticeable when starting off.
Especially in D1 I would have expected a very smooth start, so the whole thing seems unusual to me.
My questions:
- Is this behavior generally known for the G81 / G8x?
- Does anyone know this feeling with such intensity?
- Could this be due to adaptation values or a software version?
- Does anyone have experience with whether resetting the transmission adaptations or a software update can help here?
I am aware that Sport Plus has a very direct throttle response, but the described oscillation no longer seems "normal" to me, especially because it also occurs in D1 mode and when warm.
Thank you in advance for your assessments!
I have the exact problem in my G81. When stretching out the gear low throttle, with a cold engine after starting, I get extreme jerking/ bunny hopping with the car like you describe. Accelerate, no accelerate , accelerate, with the Revs dropping and climbing in sync until I snap it into gear 3. As i have an exhaust it is loudly noticeable. I took it to my local BMW dealer in Southport Queensland Australia who tried to tell me it was my Exhaust causing the issue and refused to investigate the issue until i return the exhaust to stock.
Really disappointing experience with my dealer. Unfortunately I just moved interstate I did not buy the car from them.
