    Hello everyone,

I drive a BMW M340i (G21) with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, currently at 87,000 km, and had a rather worrying problem.

After a short drive, I stood in the parking lot for about 15 minutes with the engine off, but listening to music (infotainment on).

When I wanted to continue driving and started the engine, suddenly:

    • "Battery cannot be charged"
    • directly followed by "Do not continue"

I immediately switched the engine off and restarted it – after that, all the warnings disappeared. The car has been running normally ever since, but of course I'm worried because such messages usually indicate problems in the 48V system.

It is also important to note:

I have to drive 1,700 km next Wednesday, so this is extremely inconvenient.

    Positive:

I have the BMW Extended Warranty.

I'm going directly to BMW on Monday so they can check the entire 48V system.

Did any of you receive this exact combination of warning messages?

    • What was the cause in your case?
    • BSG? 48V battery? DC/DC converter?
    • Was it sporadic for you at first too?

I would be very happy to hear about your experiences – especially from people who had this shortly before a long journey.

    Thank you! 🙏
